Ongoing Development and Trail Conditions

The Allegheny Highlands Trail (AHT) continues to improve, particularly along the section from Gilman to Kerens. Recent damage caused by broadband contractors during installation has been repaired, with ruts filled and compacted and small gravel spread in low areas to enhance the trail’s surface. An alternate route on Leading Creek Road is available for cyclists seeking a smoother ride. Please note that this road has moderate vehicular traffic, so caution is advised. The Highlands Trail Foundation (HTF) is working with the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) to address ongoing trail maintenance needs and ensure a safe and enjoyable user experience. For more information, refer to the AHT map for detailed route options.
